Athletes and public figures

People already know your name. Almost nobody knows what you do now.

I work privately with athletes and public figures whose first career is finished or ending, and whose second one is real but invisible. The work is positioning and writing. It is not publicity.

The problem

A recognized name can still leave the current work unexplained.

  1. 1

The profile belongs to the career you finished.

Often a company logo, a title, and very little else. The visitor is left to work the story out alone.

  2. 2

    Recognition is not an explanation.

People keep reading you through the career they already know, until they are given a clear reason not to. With a name that carries, that is a risk, not an advantage.

  3. 3

The obvious move is the wrong one.

Deleting the sporting or public career makes the profile cleaner and the new position less credible. It is also why many people arrive at your profile at all.

What changes

The present tense, in enough detail to be taken seriously.

The work now

What you are responsible for today, described so a stranger understands the scale of it.

Not just the title.

The earlier career

Kept, and repositioned. It carries as evidence and context rather than as the whole story.

It establishes credibility instead of competing with where you are going.

The voice

It still sounds like you. That matters more here than anywhere else, because people who actually know you read this profile.

Writing that suddenly sounds polished does not sound like you.

What I will not do

  • No motivational transition story.
  • No leading with the career that already has attention.
  • No trading on your name for reach.
  • No PR, media bookings, brand deals or speaking.
  • No guarantees on followers, engagement or business results.

What I can be held to is the judgment and the writing.

Working privately

Some of the people I work with are recognizable. That is precisely why they are not named here.

Where confidentiality is needed before we speak, I sign your NDA first. Nothing is published without your approval, and silence is never treated as consent.

You work with one person from the first conversation to the final draft. No juniors, no subcontractors, and nobody else reading your material.

One case

An athlete with a long professional career had begun serious work in an entirely different industry. His profile carried a company logo and almost nothing else. Two temptations were declined: leading with the sport, and turning the change into a reinvention narrative.

The engagement here is Behind the Voice. It begins with LinkPASS, the profile rebuilt properly once, because the profile has to be right before anything is published against it. For clients who continue into a full engagement, it is included.

That is a starting point for regional engagements. Where the work builds an international presence, the scope and the fee are agreed separately.

Most people here work with an agent, a manager or a team. If someone is looking into this on your behalf, send them this page.

If your name is known and your current work is not,

tell me what someone finds when they look you up today. That is usually where it begins.
